TD Consult only (no tests)- We Charge £85 for 20 minutes. This is often used for those patients presenting too early for testing and is an opportunity for sexual health advice and an explanation of time intervals and appropriate testing.
Private STD test London Testing Intervals
Tests are conclusive in general at 3 months post contact for the blood borne viruses i.e. HIV, HEP B, HEP C, SYPHILIS. Tests are around 90 percent accurate for these same viruses at 4 weeks post contact. Therefore 4 weeks post contact is an appropriate time for a full screen and we advise retesting at 3 months.
We can test for Chlamydia/gonorrhoea and herpes (pcr test) accurately at 2 weeks post contact.

It detects both HIV 1 AND 2 and the p24 antigen. The test has an accuracy level of 98 percent at more than 4 weeks (28 days) post any contact. It is 99.98 percent accurate at more than 90 days post contact.

Instant Private HIV Test London
This test is used accurately after more than 90 days after contact and is 99.96 percent accurate at this point. The test kits are simple to use. We use a lancet to prick the fingertip of the patient and draw a small amount of blood into a pipette. The blood is then mixed with three separate solutions. The result will be available within 60 seconds. One blue circle at the top of the membrane unit will indicate the control and should be clearly visible. A second blue circle if it appears directly below the control –indicates a potential positive (Reactive Sample). We would advise the patient that further HIV testing is necessary to confirm the validity of this result. The patient would then have further blood taken for a HIV Duo test and be advised to return the next day to go through the results.

Private Herpes Test London -Citydoc private STD test London
We offer the very latest PCR tests for HERPES. This will detect any recent contact – going back 4-6 months. Appropriate to do herpes test from 2 weeks post contact.
We can test using a urine sample provided the patient has held their bladder for two hrs. This herpes test is also appropriate for a blistering rash to aid diagnosis
The herpes test results are processed at a specialist center and therefore take 4-5 working days to return.

For those patients who are interested to know if they have ever in the past been exposed to the herpes virus. We can conduct herpes antibody testing-the herpes test will specify both type 1 and type two antibody IGG levels. We advise that antibodies can take 2-3 months to be produced. 90% of time Type 1 antibodies are specific for oral herpes exposure and 90 % of the time Type 2 is specific for genital herpes exposure. There is however a 10 % crossover.

NSU-Non Specific Urethritis-is generally transmitted sexually but also can be non sexual. (From local irritative effects, new soaps, cosmetics etc)
Diagnosed by finding more than 5 white cells on the urethral swab on microscopy.
The lab will screen for associated organisms on the urethral swab egg mycoplasma, ureaplasma. These can be normal naturally growing bacteria- so in an individual with less than 5 wccs and no discharge or symptoms are unlikely to need treatment.
Appropriate first line treatment-Azithromycin 1 gram Stat
For cases which are consistent with NSU despite negative swabs or resistant to treatment- a PCR test may be appropriate.

Private Smear test will be performed using liquid based cytology (LBC). All patients requesting a smear test will be offered testing at the same time for Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
