We understand the work pressures that parents face and so offer a weekend vaccination service at a time to suit your needs.
YOUR CONSULTATION
Any mmr vaccine to be administered will first be shown to the accompanying adult to verify the vaccine, its batch number and expiry date. Following vaccination, you will be asked to remain in the waiting area for a period of 10 - 15 minutes to ensure that any adverse reaction can be monitored.
If your child is to be brought to the clinic by any other adult than the parent or legal guardian we will require a letter of consent signed by a parent or guardian with parental responsibility. Please let a member of our healthcare team know about this on booking and we will provide you with the necessary consent form.

FAQ
(1) Is there a difference between the single and combined mmr vaccines?
The single MMR vaccines are as effective and contain an equivalent strength to the combined form.
(2) The single MMR vaccines are unlicensed, what does this mean?
Many paediatric drugs and vaccines currently used in the NHS are also, unlicensed. Unlicensed simply means that they are not licensed for production in this country but they are licensed in many other European countries. They do have to comply with all stringent requirements of the MHRA before they can be imported in to the UK. They also have to be requested on 'a named patient basis' and as such a clinical indication is needed for each child who receives the vaccine.
(3) Which MMR vaccines do you use?
Depending on availability this may occasionally change, but we will insure that only effective and safe products are used.

(4) Do the single MMR vaccines contain Mercury?
None of these mmr vaccines contain mercury or thiomersal
(5) Why can't I get these from my GP?
NHS GP's are advised to adhere to Department Of Health vaccination guidelines. They advocate the sole use of combined MMR vaccines as opposed to single MMR vaccines.
(6) Are there any side effects to these vaccines?
All single MMR vaccines can have side effects which rarely can include an acute allergic reaction. The more common reactions include redness and swelling around the site of injection , flu like symptoms, fever, irritability. With the measles and rubella vaccines a rash may develop 7 - 14 days after the vaccination. With the mumps vaccination there may be a swelling around the jaw line any time up to six weeks post vaccination. These side effects and the management of the symptoms will be discussed in more depth during your consultation.
(7) How are the single MMR vaccines transported?
They are transported to us by a company with a special license to import drugs from abroad and transported 'within a cold chain' This means that they are stored at temperatures between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. On arrival at the clinic, a designated member of staff verifies the temperature and transfers the vaccine to the specially designed vaccine refrigerators. The temperatures are recorded twice daily and these records retained.
(8) How will my GP know which MMR vaccines my child has received?
At CityDoc we will provide you all the details of the single vaccines including site of vaccine, batch number and date. This information will be written directly into your red book, in order for you to give to your GP
(9) Is the clinic registered or monitored with an independent body
Yes, the clinic is registered with the Health Care Commission. We may on rare occasions of difficulties with single MMR supply, have to use a different brand of single mmr vaccine to the one's listed. You will always be informed of the supplier of the vaccine during the consultation.
