HIV DUO Test

The gold standard test at CityDoc to diagnose HIV is called the HIV-Duo. This tests for HIV 1 and 2 antibodies and the p24 antigen for earlier diagnosis. The test is 98 percent accurate from 4 weeks after contact.

Results available within 4 hours (London Clinics) or next day (rest of UK). If the initial test is reactive we will go on to confirm the result using 3 independent techniques and if these are positive we will review the patient in surgery and refer to a HIV specialist.

To confirm all negative results pts are advised to re-test at 3 months.
