Blood tests: Tests to look for anaemia, full cholesterol profile, liver and kidney function, diabetes, gout, calcium levels and markers of infection.

Urine test: to look for infection, diabetes and kidney problems.

Blood pressure check: important risk factor for heart disease and stroke.

Lung function tests: assessment of lung function and capacity. Looks for diseases such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema.

PSA: in men over 40. Looks at levels of prostate specific antigen, which is a marker for prostate cancer.

Additional tests

These can be requested depending on a patient’s need at extra cost:-

Chest X-ray: to look for abnormalities of lungs, heart and lymph glands

ECG-exercise or resting: recording of electrical impulses from heart- shows evidence of heart disease and abnormal heart rhythms.

Digital Mammogram: X-ray test of the breasts to look for abnormal tissue, which may indicate cancer. Available for women over 40.

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Testing: this DNA based screen can be used in women as additional marker for cervical cancer risk. In men DNA urethral swabs will detect HPV strains which are risk factors for penile cancer and genital warts.The HPV vaccine Gardasil can be considered for clients who screen negative for the virus.
HIV Screening: Citydoc has the full range of HIV tests including a 60 second rapid finger prick blood test, which is 99.96 % accurate from 3 months post exposure.
